RESENTMENT IS A KIND OF POISON

Life is a journey, and each of us has the opportunity to be the driver, welcoming the passengers who pass through our lives. Perhaps we won't always encounter kind passengers, but we can be a good driver, even if we can't avoid traffic jams, we can use a cheerful attitude to enjoy a happy and warm journey together.

In daily life, we often encounter many people who harbor resentment. They resent everything from family to work, always feeling that nothing is as they wish. They don't realize that resentment is one of the worst emotions, causing strained relationships and escalating conflicts. It not only negatively impacts their own health but also causes friends and family to gradually distance themselves.

Resentment is a kind of poison. It can diminish enthusiasm, destroy willpower, lower one's status, and ruin both mind and body. Therefore, instead of resenting fate, change your fate; instead of resenting life, improve your life!

In a city in the United States, a middle-aged passenger took a taxi to the airport. Upon entering, the passenger discovered that the car was not only visually appealing but also neatly and elegantly furnished. The driver was impeccably dressed and polite. As soon as the car started moving, he enthusiastically asked the passenger if the temperature inside was comfortable. Shortly after, he asked if the passenger preferred music or the radio. The passenger chose music, and a comfortable journey began. When the car stopped at a red light, the driver turned around and informed the passenger that there was a morning newspaper and a periodical magazine in the car. Additionally, there was a small refrigerator in the front, stocked with fruit juice and Coca-Cola, which the passenger could help themselves to. If they wanted coffee, there was also a thermos of hot coffee nearby.

The driver said, "I'm an easygoing person. If you want to chat, I can join you. If you want to rest or enjoy the scenery, I'll drive quietly and won't disturb you."

This special service truly surprised the passenger, who couldn't help but look at the driver with a puzzled expression. The passenger asked, "Since when did you start offering this service?"

After a moment of silence, the driver said, "Actually, when I first started, my car didn't offer the comprehensive service it does now. I was just like everyone else, complaining constantly, grumbling at customers, complaining about the incompetent government, complaining about the bad traffic, complaining about the high price of gasoline, complaining about my disobedient children, complaining about my wife's lack of virtue... daily life was truly dreary."

But once, I overheard a conversation about life in a commercial. The gist was that if you want to change the world, change your life, first change yourself. If you always feel dissatisfied, then everything that happens will feel like bad luck. Conversely, if you feel that today is a lucky day, then every person you meet today could be your benefactor.

Therefore, I believe that if I want to be happy, I must stop complaining and change myself. From that moment on, I decided to treat each of my passengers kindly.

In my first year, I thoroughly cleaned and refurbished the car, giving it a complete makeover. I always greeted every passenger with a smile, and as a result, my income doubled that year.

In my second year, I used my sincerity to care for and share in my customers' joys and sorrows. At the same time, I was more tolerant and inquired about their well-being more often. My income in the second year doubled compared to the first year.

By the third year, which is this year, I had transformed my car into this unique "5-star" vehicle. Besides increased income, most of my customers are now repeat customers.

Upon arrival, the driver got out of the car, went to the back to help the passenger open the door, and also handed over a nice business card, saying, "I hope to have the opportunity to serve you again next time."

As a result, the driver's business was not affected at all when the economy slowed down. He changed, not only creating a good source of income, but also building a peaceful life for himself.
